Days of my Life

Sitex was fun today.

The last time which I’d last did a front line was before enlistment. I was still with Playthings then, working  in a Roadshow just outside Isetan Scotts. And 5 years had passed since.

Boss approached me last week, asked me to help out for today. And I thought why not? Besides, I’m already very sick of taking calls.

I’d an interesting customer today. He’s unable to hear nor speak. The barrier between us is that I don’t know sign language. We communicated via our handphone. We keyed in whatever we wished to get across into our handphone and showed it to each other. Glad that I’m able to help him!

Back in the 90s, I went to the Singapore museum to see this special exhibition, titled ‘From Quill to Pen’. And in this era, we had reached a new level. Quill -> Pen -> SMS…

A fellow colleague, T, was there for the 3rd day running. He knows the best spot to slack, the best place to ‘plant’ himself in without having to answer lots of enquires, yet at the same time,  able to have that ‘I’m actually working my ass off’ effect going on…

He also shared that you can get free Coke Zero at the other end of the hall. I’d my reserve initially. I asked him, “Won’t it be kind of embarrasing? We are wearing the company’s Polo Tee afterall!” The whole thing felt abit like ’shitting in your own backyard’.

He said,” Won’t lah! Everyone is doing it!”

Therefore, we went to get one after our lunch, during one of our Own Time Own Target break and for dinner.

I’m staying away from Coke for the next few days! Yucks!

T, N, E and I made a pact to go for dinner together. E had to settle something first, therefore the 3 of us grabbed 4 meal boxes and head for that spot to slack. T suddenly reminded us that we don’t have drinks to go along. That’s when the free Coke Zero came into the picture. We made a detour and headed to the end of the exhibition hall. I hold onto the 4 meal boxes and asked the 2 of them to go get it first as I don’t want to make it seems like we are very Gian Png.

Imagine you join in a queue of freebies with a meal box? Now how will that looks like?

After which, it was my turn to go and get it. I grabbed one and headed back to them. They told me that E went in after me, so we have to wait for her. When she came back to join us with that free Coke, she told us that she had went to that spot to slack, to find it empty. And she knows that she will surely find us here.

It felt like a cohesion session We no longer have that much fun in the office anymore. I didn’t regret going , only regretted not going for the full 4 days. =(

I saw a friend today. She’s one of those whom I still can crap with, without a sudden awkward pause halfway through catching up, despite those months of not meeting up.

And I commented that she look thinner as compared to the last time that I saw her. Was it at Zouk in July? Unlike those girls who will disagree strongly to that ‘You look thin’  kind of comment, she replied, “You think so? I think so too!”

Currently, she’s not in a relationship, which I find that hard to believe, as she’s quite a looker. “You mean no guys hit on you?” I asked.

“Of course got, but doesn’t mean I must say yes!”

It turned out, she’s not in a relationship or shall I say she’s ‘in a fling’ with a *drums rolling* married man.

“You just love having that kind of kick, don’t you?” I asked. I don’t know! But some people just love to head for the mountain when they know that there are tigers roaming in there. The feeling of knowing that there’s danger and risk involved, and not landing into hot soup but is in fact almost very there, is very exciting.

She smiled and nodded her head. I asked her to be careful and not to get her hair pulled by that hysterical wife who found out that her supposing loving husband is having that thrill of his life behind her back.

“Yes! I know! I’m already thinking about how she will just turn up at my workplace suddenly and slap me silly! That’s why I’m keeping this VERY low profile! I don’t even dare to get a Facebook account and in fact, I’d just signed up recently, but I kept my information to the minimal”

“Uh-huh… and for how long has this been going on?”

“Ermm 8 months?”

Ashley was kinda pissed about those double standards between male and female. A guy friend told her that he can sleep around but if his wife was to sleep around, he will beat the shit out of her.

She can’t see the difference because to her, both parties are doing the same thing.

I gave my take, ‘If a guy sleep around, he’s just being a guy! But if a gal sleep around, she’s just being cheap!”

She squinted at me after I gave my view. I asked her not to blame me but to blame the society instead. At the end of the day, they are the one who drop that judgement, not me!

To make her feel better, I quote an example, “If a gal work as a prostitute, she’s trying to get by! However, if a guy is a gigolo…”

 I didn’t even have to finish that sentence, already, she gave me a grin of acknowledgement.

We were deciding what to get for 小哥 as a birthday gift. Seems like he has set his eyes on this pair of Ray Ban shades.

I was checking out the prices in one of the Optical shops at Bukit Panjang. I’d managed to enquire what I thought was a very good deal-> a 20% off. I immediately sent out messages to inform the others, asking for their opinion. I’d already come to terms with the fact that I suck when it comes to fashion.

And it turned out, Sharon was dead against the idea of getting it Bukit Panjang Plaza as it was going at an even cheaper price in Lucky Plaza. To kill your curiousity, it’s cheaper by $50 or even more.

Therefore, a date was set, to meet up in town to get that steal.

2 hours before meeting up, Sharon called to inform that she’s having second thoughts. Apparently, she was quite turn off by the idea of having to travel all the way down to town, just to save that $50.

… I almost kick her!!! Like hello? Who was the one whom suggested going to town in the first place?

We were supposed to meet @ 330pm. And it was already 115 pm when she called. Since I was at work, I suggested her to leave her home earlier, to check the prices out in Choa Chu Kang. And if it’s not ideal, we meet in Orchard.

I’m working in Jurong East. It’s a bit stupid to make my way to Choa Chu Kang, then proceed to town, when I can go to town directly from Jurong East via MRT.

And guess what? She refused to be that scout citing, “I’d just wake up and it’s too early to go out!”

Time check! 115 pm in the noon is considered as early? Ermm then what it late?

Choa Chu Kang doesn’t carry what we were looking for and the staff there have a one kind attitude. She’s serving us with a fuck care attitude. It’s these kind of people who will turn you into a rude person. Sharon and I walked out of the shop in disgust.

Ended up, after one big circle and a series of unfortunate events, we bought the paif of shades from that shop in Bukit Panjang Plaza…

I will think twice about Sharon’s suggestion next time!

And I’ve still yet to kick her!!!

Went over to Maverick’s and Steph’s home after work on Monday evening. Their dog, Mya, had given birth to triplets.

They are all so adorable and small. When I told Sharon that yesterday, she said, “Puppies are meant to be small!”

Yes! I so know that, my friend! Don’t be a bitch on that!

They have 3 dogs. The above one is a male dog, Casper. He’s an attention seeking dog. Deprive him of that, and he will sulk. Haha… I can’t find a decent looking photo of Rufus, will post it up once I get my hands on it.

When I went over on Sunday night, to get the M5 notes from Maverick, he was still telling me that they had miscalculated ( the day where Rufus and Mya had mated ), which explains why Mya had yet to give birth. Immediately that night, the triplets came into this world.

Be going Double O later for Mambo!

The last visit was some 3 months ago. Boy, I missed walking up that flight of stairs which will led you to level 2, to Double O itself.

The first visit there resulted in me leaving, drunk, boarding up a cab ( Don’t ask me how, but I just know I need to get home ), leaving the scene without informing Cuiling. That poor girl went searching high and low for me. However, it was also thanks to me that she met her now boyfriend, Weiming!

I must admit that I love that place, mainly because of the cheap booze that they offer. The right place to knock back cheap shots, dance and get high together with good friends. So far, I don’t think I’d a really bad, sianz, session in Double 0.

The only 3 times that I got sian and wished that I was somewhere else was

1) A Saturday Night at Zouk. They were playing house music, which ain’t my cup of tea. The group of us proceeded to Double O later. Yup, that was THE night where Cuiling and Weiling know of each other existence.

2) At Lunar Bar after Dinner and Dance last year. It’s was the most boring place to be at, in my opinion. I’m not a big fun of Mando-Pop. The only highlight of the night was when I bump into Shirmaine and her girls,while taking a walk ( out of boredom ) outside. They were on their way to Gotham or somewhere. Can’t remember…

3) At Saint James with a she-friend who was having relationship problems. Was the one who asked me out for a drink, yet she only took a sip from her cup, as ‘I can’t drink a lot’. Mind you! We ordered a tower -_-”, which I had to finish the whole thing by myself. Thankfully, another friend was there. He helped to drink a few glasses. 3/4 of the time, she went MIA to make an important call. It was quite a drama. Which explains why I had made a resolution not to entertain not so-close-friends anymore. Ain’t worth the time and money. I was supposed to be at Double O with Ash and her gang of friends. Thank God! She ended that agony by saying she have to go home. I managed to meet up with Ash and gang. It was a night of fun =)

Will I give up clubbing?

I’d promised a cousin to bring her there on her 18th birthday.

Besides, my new work palce is a stone throw distance away =)

I received an email notification earlier on, informing me that ‘Lim Ming Yong had tagged a photo of me on Facebook. ‘

… How is that even possible? He’s still in Denmark which = haven’t take a photo with him for ages.

Somehow, I felt a sudden uneasiness growing inside me…as I logged onto Facebook.

And I was right!

And he named that as ‘ hehe! more reason for you to visit amsterdam ‘

I’m gonna kill him when he comes back!

3) Chilling @ J Bar in M hotel

Ash and I took a cab down to join the others where were already there since 10pm. We had to call a cab as the queue is quite a bitch. It’s just so frustrating to be waiting for around 10~15 minutes without any luck and when you eventually did called for one, it will arrived in 3~5 minutes.

Met 2 new gals that night, or rather one. Rachael and Fiona. I’d actually met the latter during a clubbing session in Double O but I guess I was too high to remember who is who. Haha…

By the time we reached, only a miserable portion was left in that bottle of Chivas. Javier emptied the last of it into 2 seperate glasses and had Ash and I downed them. Both Cynthia and Daphne then passed us another glass each, saying “Help me finish it! TAH!”

Conclusion -> Never meet up with friends late when clubbing/pubbing! Haha…

It was a night filled with fun. The music were great and there’s even a live band. I tried the LIT, which was quite disappointing as it tasted like Coke. I’m not being hao lian, but no kick.

I went for another review yesterday at NUH. After he took a look at the X-ray, the doctor shook my hand and said that he will only be seeing me next June. In other words, the fractured parts had healed. The review next year is to decide whether to get the screws out.

Finally! After so many months! Praise the Lord! =)

Sharon and Xiao Ge called me yesterday, within the same hour but on different time, to ask me some question, so as to book the air tickets.

I don’t know about you, but with close friends, I’ll know what their reply is going to be when I ask or say certain things. Therefore, I will always reply on behalf! Lolz…

“Set! Now is to decide whether to take  before or after the emergency exit?”

“Let’s see! If you are sitting before, you will have to be responsible for opening that whatsit in case of choy, emergency! Let’s take the one whereby the exit is behind you!”

As the car was turning into Cashew Road, Ivan shared that he used to play basketball after school at the court further in the front. Cashew Road is a stone throw distance away from my home at Gangsa Road. I ask him how come he didn’t drop by to hang after his game. He looked at me and said, “You know yourself too! I still can’t believe how I made it through those 3.5 years back in Poly!

It’d been quite a long time since Maine last did a Moaning Myrtle. And MAN! Was I shocked to be bombed by her via MSN this morning, for not replying to her ‘ I’m emo!!! ‘ sms. Honestly, I really was away from my cell then.

After a couple of exchange over MSN, she typed, ‘I’m lazy to type! Call me!”

I took up my phone, dialled her number which I’d long ago comitted into memory, as soon as it got through, I said, “Okay! You only have 3 minutes! This better be juicy! If not I’m hanging up on you!”

Apparently, for the first time (or so she claims), she felt vulnerable and threatened in a relationship. It all started with her mum’s handphone going bonkers, and she passed her’s to her mum, while her BF passed his spare phone to her. Let’s just put it this way, those old memories in that phone hit her in the guts, hard!

“… And I sms-ed him the other day telling him that I missed him!”

” And?”

“He replied me it’s okay! Anyway we are going to see each other tomorrow lar!”

“Don’t tell me you get angry over the…”

“YES! the L.A.R!”

Bingo! And I’m a seer! That LAR really set her off as that’s as good as saying ‘It’s not a big deal!’

I went into a convulsion and got chided by her, “Your good friend is feeling emo over here and you can still laugh!”

But it’s really funny! Hahaha

I was still warming up my seat when Ashley said excitedly, “Woo Woo I haven’t show you!” and started tapping on her precious Samsung Omnia. Yes! She’s using a fucking touchscreen.

I turned my head to her direction, raised an eyebrow, “What? Show me what? ” and wheeled my office chair over.

“See!” she said and showed me the picture of that guy who’d messaged her ‘Your dog looks hot, and you look even hotter’ via Facebook.

I took a look and asked, “What’s his name again? Felix?”

She suddenly look like I’d just scolded her ‘Chee Bye’ and said, “He’s not a cat!”

“What! I thought that’s his name ! So what’s his name? Bobby? And that’s a dog’s name! I know! Don’t give me that look!” I retorted.

“His name is Greg!”

“Woah! Greg? That’s a…”

“…Fuck-able name!” We said in unison. We did a high-five after that and threw our head back with laughter.

I think at the end of the day, your name really does make an impact. Never judge a book by it’s cover! And never judge a person a person by his name! Haha…

Ashley shared a thought with me earlier on. ‘Why is it that I can have the money to buy CDs, magazines and go for expensive food when I was taking pocket money from my parents and yet when I’m working now, money always doesn’t seems enough?’

She took it to the next level by informing me that when she said magazine, she don’t mean 8-days. She meant those gossips magazine from America, e.g. People, Smash Hits…which cost about a 2 piece chicken meal from KFC, with the whipped potato trade up to Cheese Fries.

What a thought!

Whatever had happened to us?

Where have all the money goes to?

I shall stop doing things or meeting up with people based on ‘obligation’. That’s kind of taxing in a way.

Recently, I was kind of haunt by a friend. You know? Those kind of friends who will disappear into the thin air, always unavailable when they are in a relationship and after going through a very bad break up, they suddenly remember your very existence and be constantly bugging you to meet up. Yes! Those kind!

I mean, it’s perfectly okay if you want to disappear or have to be unavailable. I’m not those who will F you big time for not being able turn up, coz at the end of the day, if you are happy, I’m happy for you! Just don’t make it sound like I’m committing a hideous sin by not coming out with the time for a meet up.

I shared that bit with Maine. Apparently she also have such a friend, who need to take a long time to get it over with. She suggested, “Maybe she really want to meet with you?”

“BUT I don’t consider myself as a good companion! I’m only nice and fun to my good friends!”

“Yar larh! That’s true!” She said. Leave it to that bitch who really knows me. Though not throughly, still she ain’t my bitch for nothing. Love her!

Work sucks!

I’m looking forward to the day where I can throw the letter.

It’s going to be a great year ahead. Hongkong trip first before giving my full attention to the new job.

Tomorrow, I’ll have to meet with Steph and Ash for a KTV session @ Chevron after work. I missed the seafood tofu! Finally.

Another KTV session on Saturday evening, to celebrate 3rd Aunt’s birthday. Been quite a while since the last family gathering.

Final Physio session on the 9th, followed by a review. The doctor be giving me good news! It’s a confirm! Somehow, I just know it!

Friday the 13th -> ‘Sibling’ night with Hui Ping. We’ll be watching SAW 6. It will the the first of the franchise that I’m watching via the big screen. Nowadays, it’s so hard to find people who can take explicit gore. Haha…

14th -> Mambo @ Double O with Ash and her gang of friends. Daphne be leaving for Shanghai on the 21st due to work committment. What a shame! She’s just so much fun to be with! Therefore, this clubbing session be like a ‘Farewell, Till Then!’ for her.

November ain’t going to be a dull month. 3 birthdays coming up. Mum’s on the 22nd, Ping and Xiao Ge’s on the 23rd.

Okay! I’d took part in the ‘Are you a long time fan of 8 days?  How many copies of the magazine do you have!’ contest.

I took out my collection and counted ‘em last night! Oh my god! 260 copies! That’s like close to 5 years plus worth.

I certainly didn’t see this contest coming when I first started keeping issue after issue back then. Therefore, I took it as a sign to give this contest a shot!

Anyway the prizes work out to $1000, which includes a handphone, a watch and a restaurant voucher!

Sharon, if I’m lucky enough to win it, we shall go to expand that  restaurant voucher together with Genki and your Ah Lao!!!

Before that dinner on Thursday evening, Maine had informed me not to tell the other 2 that the Lost Symbol was actually a birthday gift and that ‘ I’d asked a friend of her’s to get it for me’ !

I asked, “Why?”

“Because I didn’t get them anything for their birthday!”

“Hold it! I didn’t get them anything also and I’ll be passing you your birthday gift later!” I replied, at the same time thinking why do we have to lie. And it’s not even a white lie we are pulling off!

“It’s different! They won’t suan you, but they will sure suan me!” She said.

“Okay then! Will you be late later?”

“I’m waiting for C.J to reach my workplace and after that I’ll be driving down!”

“Will you be late then?” I repeated. Why is she not answering my question?

“I be reaching at around 645!”

“Okay! You better not be late! Coz if you are late, then I’ll tell them that it’s a birthday gift!”

“Why you…”

“If you are late, you are dead!”

“Fine! Then you won’t be getting a birthday gift next year!”

… She did arrived late again.

And no! I didn’t Pau Toh her…

The initial plan was to have Steamboat @ Sunset Bay. However, Jonah pulled a Frank on us the last minute. Going for  steamboat with only 3 person seems kind of dumb! Therefore, we decided to switch turf to Maine’s all time favorite, Old Town’s Cafe. She was having a crave for the Prawn Noodle. I’m really cool with anything as long as I’m not required to go ‘Red Wine’ =)

It’s kind of wasted that Jonah couldn’t make it. I was actually looking forward to meeting up with the 3 of them. You know? Sometimes you will just meet up because you feel obligated to! But with them, it’s more of like having great fun and it’s always so fun. Despite Jonah’s absence, we had a great time catching up.

When C.J excused himself to the Gents, I quickly asked Maine, “Hey you are more close to him! It’s strange that he’s not in a relationship yet! Did he say anything to you?”

“Yar! I know! I’d already asked him when you went to the Gents earlier on! He said no one at the moment?” She replied. Leave it to a bitch when it comes to searching, digging for that skeleton in the closet. I’m stunned at Maine’s efficiency. I mean, I didn’t recall spending for like more than 5 minutes in there. I just go in for a pee and No! I didn’t take a long moment in front of the mirror. Woah!

After dinner, we went to this KTV Pub which Maine’s referred as an Ah Chek’s place, to chill.

Tried Corona with a slice of lemon. Hmm not bad, but still if there’s a choice, I will go for LIT. Haha…

Halfway through, Maine had to excuse herself as she had to go ‘top up’ on the Car Coupons. Sadly, she was out of coupons and the nearest place where you can get it is at God Knows Where. Still, she had already been ‘battle trained’. The solution? Pay drivers who had just parked their car and get one from them. It’ll be wise to get 2, just in case!
