Sex and the City

(This is an entry from last year 30th May, which I’d posted wrongly under PAGE)

And I watched it yesterday at Golden Village, Tiong Bahru. When we knew that it’ll be this May last year, Cuiling and I made a pact to watch it together. We are huge fans of the series.

My first exposure was at Genki’s home in 1998, I think. Da Jie’s friend had lent her the first season, so happen I was at their home rotting away. I didn’t know what’s the show talking about then as it was all about ‘fuck’ and ’sex’.

And when I really want to watch it again, I found that the show is banned in Singapore. Downloading from the Internet is near impossible as I’m surviving on dial up 56K then. That dragged on to me finishing my Secondary education and getting my Diploma in the Poly.

My chance came when Maine who was working in Pionner then, asked me whether is there anything I want as she sort of has connection to get the pirated DVDs. Just for the record. One of the reason to why my Army Life is so colorful and ain’t boring is because of Sex and the City. My weekend is spent watching the DVDs.

This series later became one of Maine’s favorite and it became a craze in her company. I heard from her that quite a handful of people purchased the chiong copies too. Haha! Thanks to me!

And finally after close to 6 months… The movie hits the screen. Our long wait is over!

2 day before the big day, Cuiling had already went online to book the tickets. We narrowed down to 3 different locations, Plaza Singapura, VivoCity or Tiong Bahru. We chose Tiong Bahru is because the seats selection at the other 2 outlets kinda sucks. I’m not going to spend 2 hours in the theater, sitting at the corner sit and watching the movie looking sideway. Tiong Bahru is really ‘deserted’ which is a plus for us who really want to enjoy the show. As usual, the feeling is like ‘going back home’.

You know how some show (like Buffy/Charmed) sort of get boring after a few seasons? Sex and the City doesn’t! The ratings given by 8-days isn’t that good, and I was keeping my fingers very crossed. Turned out, the movie isn’t a disappointment. It brought me the laughters, ‘the Woo and the Ah’. I love it.
