A friend from poly-years rang me up when I was on the way to Old Airport Road with Frank the other day. Honestly, I was rather surprised to hear from her, because she’d been a pilot for quite a couple of times already. Pilot as in flying us the plane when we had already agreed and scheduled to meet up. We had a bried update on ‘Days of our current un-glam life’ and after making vow to yet another meet up, we hung up.
I told Frank about how it was quite scary, not to hear from a good friend for a period of time and when you finally did hear from her, she’s in the hospital. OD on sleeping pills. I told him, “Can you believe? Such a cheerful person will actually commit sucide!”
Frank suddenly looked like he had just seen a ghost and said, “When was that? She’s dead already?”
I resisted the urge to lunge for his throat. “No! She tried to commit sucide! She’s still alive and that happened last year!”
“Oh! She attempted in commiting sucide!” He said, in a very irritating wise tone.
… I’d clean forgotten about the fact that I’m having a conversation with a RJC graduate who scored 3As for his ‘A’ Levels, and that I must be really ‘precise’ with the words that I’m using.
He suddenly took out his digital camera and started showing me some of the photos inside. Apparently, he and some of his Uni-mates went to a Childcare Center or something for some voluntary works. While showing me the pics, he informed me that he’s documenting his life. ( Is he suffering from Alzheimer? )
As usual, the topic of ‘Have a girlfriend already?’ kicked in. That slut had gotten attached already, while I’m still in the middle of nowhere. Waiting! I asked him whether is that girl inside one of those photos stored in his D-Cam. ( It’s a tradition thing to do. To carry a picture of your girlfriend wherever you go! An unspoken rule! ) He nodded. I asked which one? He said, “You guess!”
Jesus Christ.
The second shock of the day was when he told me that another Medic friend, Desmond, was hospitalised due to difficulty in breathing.
Worse! He had an operation. Hospitalised for 2 weeks.
Even worse! Frank knew, went to visit him, without even informing the rest of us.
When I asked why? He said, ” Yarh! Why huh? I’d actually forget to include you!”
P.S. Just like 10 minutes ago, he told me that I’m on of his 4 best friend.
Interesting! haha
