Shirmaine’s Sister, Shirlene’s Big Night

Shirmaine called me  the other night to inform that her sister had invited me to her wedding. What’s really an honour to me, is that among all her good friends, only me and Cindy were invited by her personally.

I said YES but had second thoughts later. I immediately thumb her a message to inform her that I won’t be going coz I don’t really know anyone there. Besides, I only met her sister in real life, like once, which is during Maine’s 21st Birthday Celebration.

I got blasted by her. She replied, ‘Fuck U! I told my sister already lah…! At least u know Ash there lor! Desmond dun even know anyone lor!! Dun be a sissy!!’

-_-” I tried reasoning with her with a second message, that only make it worse. She replied, ‘If ur bro invited me PERSONALLY (I could tell that she’s in her bitch mode by now), I would go even if i’m seated between strangers..And honestly, my girls dun even know my sis lor..She’s my only sister leh..’

She would eventually pop by my home to pass me and invitation card, and before I know it, I’m on my way to Rasa Sentosa Resort.

Speaking of Wedding Cards… I can safely say that Shirlene’s Wedding Invitation is by far the most creative. I was expecting to see the card coming to me in either white or red, like the one below.

P.S. That’s Fay’s Wedding Invitation Card.

And since I’m already talking about invitation cards, I’ll show you a Muslim Invitation.

P.S. That’s Ah Fen’s Wedding Invitation.

Shirlene’s Invitation is in a Postcard format. With a picture of her and her hubby, Nils, imprinted on it. It’s really cool. I mean, at least you know who is really getting married and not ‘kept in the dark’.

And the ultimate surprise is that , it’s a theme-based Wedding. The theme of the night is Peranankan’. I get a shock when I heard that Maine’s got that bit of Peranakan blood flowing in her. Seriously, I can’t really see that!

As usual, I reached there, not on time, but was early. And before I knew it, a polariod was in my hand and I was taking pictures of the guests for the Guestbook. That, was another higlight of the night. In all the Wedding that I’d attended, there’s of course a Guestbook. However, all you need to do is just to sign on it. I bet 20 years down the road, if the couple were not divorced and were to take out the book for a flip, they won’t be able to tell, ‘Who the hell wrote that!’

Their Guestbook is Black. After taking the picture, I will hand it over to the dude, manning the recept, who will in turn paste it onto the black sheet of paper. The guest will then write down their message in either silver or gold ink. That really took my breath away. The overall outcome is a 10/10. I’m gonna do it on my Big Night. Haha…

I took a Polariod Shot with Maine for fun.

They had a Cocktail Reception for those who reached @1830. When I attended Fay’s Wedding last year, all the hotel served was drinks. You helped yourself with a glass of soda and you stand around waiting to be seated. However, they have waiters and waitressess walking around with a big plate of sinful delights, for this one. When I say Sinful Delights, I’m referring to Cheesesticks, Cheesecakes, Mini-Fruit Tarts… etc…

OH MY GOD! Both Desmond and I agreed that their Cheesesticks are fantastic. I was going for a Blueberry Tart, however a guest arrived and I’d to get myself busy. And I never get to see that plate again. Fuck!

I finally got myself seated, and it’s really a small world. Halfway through a conversation with Angela, one of Shirmaine’s Gals, I found out that I actually knew her brother, Zhi Bin, who is also a fellow Medic Spec. He’s posted to Taiwan to be the Senior Medic over there. I got to know him during my stay over there. Just to sidetrack a little, I kinda missed Taiwan.

Haha… I’d to leave before the dessert and the traditional Noodle which they will serve just before the dessert, for fear that I missed the last bus. It’s such a joyous occassion.

A few days later, Shirmaine called to inform me, “Hey, your Ang Paw is with me!”

“Huh?”

“You know? You helped out with the photos, so my sister gave you one!”

“Haha! Why not give me the one which I’d gave her? It’s more, you know?”

Happy Days!!
